Online placement (E-Volunteer)
Partner Location Bolivia
Start Date Oct - Dec 2019 (flexible)
Length of Placement 1 Month
Language Requirements English, Spanish
The E-Volunteer’s Role
Cuso International Bolivia is seeking support to expand the online tools available to our partner youth employment centres (Centro de Jóvenes y Empleo). Some of the youth served by these centres are not able to visit in person to access free services on employability, entrepreneurship and vocational orientation. Therefore, these centres are seeking an online portal/website and/or mobile application to allow greater accessibility to these resources by youth.
As an e-volunteer, you will work with your lead contact at the Centro de Jóvenes y Empleo to analyze their needs, recommend the best type of platform to meet their needs and then build the platform. Proficiency in the English language is mandatory for this placement.
Please clearly state in your statement of interest why you would be the perfect e-volunteer for this role.
As an e-volunteer, you will:
-Schedule a project kick-off call with the partner to discuss and identify their needs. Recommend a platform that would best address their needs.
-Build a custom platform. Provide training on managing and updating the platform post-delivery.
Essential Academic Qualifications:
-A degree, or currently studying towards a degree in Computer Science, Multi Media or a related discipline.
Essential Professional Background:
-Previous experience with web and mobile application programming.
-Proficiency in the Spanish language.
-Patience and flexibility while working with the partner to evaluate their needs and recommend a solution that would meet their needs.
Cuso International’s e-volunteering program welcomes new and returning volunteers to work with our international program partners and volunteers remotely. E-Volunteering offers many of the benefits gained from international volunteering, while having the extra advantage of fitting into one's regular weekly schedule without needing a passport. Contributing and giving back to a community, gaining new skills, and making new connections are common benefits of e-volunteering and for Cuso International it is a great opportunity to engage more people in its mission.
E-Volunteers are expected to supply their own basic home office equipment, Internet and have a moderate knowledge of computer technology. Some of our partners are located in remote areas with unreliable internet connection. In addition, for some of our partners, this is their first experience working with e-volunteers so flexibility and patience is a valuable e-volunteer characteristic.
E-Volunteers spend approximately 3-4 months in a placement and spend 2-10 hours per week working as an e-volunteer depending on the project requirements.
