Help student entrepreneurs to change the world.
As a business mentor you will be the partner of a class of students located in a publicly funded Ottawa school near you.
Business mentors visit their class once a week for one hour from early January to the end of April on a day and time that you determine with your teacher partner.
Business mentors require a criminal records check for the vulnerable sector.
The students choose a registered charity, decide on a product or service they will market, and donate all the proceeds of their sales to the charity.
As their mentor, you will guide them through the steps of creating a business and implementing their business plan while helping to meet the project timelines.
Through their research, brainstorming, presentation, and marketing efforts students improve their communication, critical thinking, creative thinking, and time management skills.
The EA program has a huge impact on everyone involved. You will be impressed with the creativity and empathy you will see in the classroom. Students want to engage with their mentors and are grateful for their guidance. Many mentors develop a connection to their schools and their teacher partners and return to the program year after year.
